Steps for Writing Wedding Shower Invitations
Sharon Hendricks
When you are planning a bridal shower for a friend or family member, the one thing that you should do is know how to word your wedding shower invitations. This will ensure that the recipients have all the information that they need. Here are some key things to remember when you are wording your wedding shower invitations.
If you are writing invitations for a formal shower, write them with a calligraphy pen. Put the full name of the bride at the invitation's beginning and the name of the groom for a co-ed shower. Using phrases such as "Your presence is requested at ________'s wedding shower" is a good idea at the beginning of the invitation.
Once you have written the name of the bride, you will want to put the shower's date on the wedding shower invitations. Instead of using numbers for the date, spell out the number, such as the twelfth of August at four o'clock in the afternoon. Then you will want to put the shower's location and the complete address. If there will be people from a distance away, it is proper to include clear directions. These can be placed on the reverse of the invitation.
Lastly, place the date of the RSVP at the invitation's bottom. The name and the phone number for the person whom guests should contact should also be included. It is also a good idea to tell guests whether or not it will be a surprise at the end of your bridal shower invitations so that the bride is not accidentally told. If it will be a theme shower, this should also be included.
If the bride and groom have a gift registry, it is also acceptable to place a separate card within the invitation to let guests know where the couple is registered. This information is not normally included on the invitations themselves.
