Wedding Shower Themes

A wedding shower theme usually sets the tone for the wedding to come. Many times it will compliment the theme of the wedding or reflect the couple's values and interests. Creative themes make wedding showers memorable and can heighten the expectation of the exciting wedding to come.
For a destination wedding, the shower could have games related to travel or the location where the wedding will be held. Favors could incorporate mini travel items, printed maps of the location or hand-made figurines from the wedding destination. Food could include local fare from the wedding destination as well.
For a wedding set during a particular weather season like spring or fall, the shower could be decorated to mimic the season the wedding will take place in. Seasonal favors such as seeds for spring or maple-scented candles for autumn help carry the theme. Lastly, themed drinks can also add to a seasonal shower such as hot chocolate being served for a winter wedding.
Ideas for wedding showers where the wedding is during a holiday can easily be taken from the corresponding holiday. Valentine's Day weddings could have a shower starting off with heart-shaped invites and asking everyone to come dressed in red or pink. Then adding to the theme, it could include all Valentine's Day colored food such as raspberry yogurt parfaits, cherry cheese souffls, and strawberry ice-cream sundaes. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Halloween weddings could have a shower held in a haunted location at night. Related shower games would include making the scariest shadow puppet or the best carving of a pumpkin template out of a paper plate.
Wedding showers can be extraordinarily fun to plan, and it is fairly easy to incorporate the themed elements from the upcoming wedding. With a little creativity, the shower can really help build up excitement and expectation for the wedding celebration.
